FA Will Look At Barton-Etuhu Clash
By Andy November 11 2007
The FA will look in more detail at Joey Barton's controverial challenge on Dickson Etuhu

The English FA have said today that they will take a closer look at a controverial challenge made by Newcastle United player Joey Barton on Sunderland's Dickson Etuhu on Saturdays Wear-Tyne Derby match at the Stadium of Light.

Barton's challenge on Etuhu was made just before the half-time break while attention was elsewhere. Ref Martin Atkinson did not award a free-kick and seemed to be looking away from that area of the pitch(or could just be blind).

The FA could issue Barton with a violent conduct charge, this is for when a match-official failes to spot a dirty challenge. This would mean a 3-match ban for the player in question.
