The build up to this game was amazing. Got to sunderland and there was a real buzz around the place, the pub was very tense but a very enjoyable atmosphere.

I got over to the stadium about 30 mins before kick off. I was very tense but very excited, mackems were in full voice before the game. When the players were announced it was deafening, i didnt hear a word of the newcastle team for the boos.

The game kicked off, sunderland on the attack as they were most of the 1st half. The first real chance came from a carlos cross that fell to wallace, he had loads of time but didnt finish it off very well, he skied his volley over the bar.

Sunderland had a great attacking spell with many chances, leadbitter had his shot cleared off the line and another cross from edwards was headed over from grant.

Newcastle had a half chance when the ball fell to owen in the box but they didnt have enough time 2 shoot.

On the stroke of half time joey barton had a disgusting tackle on etuhu, a flying kick to his groin. It shouldve been a sending off.

Half time sunderland were playing decent but not amazing football. The goal came from ken chasing a loose ball and winning a corner, the corner was took quickly and leadbitter flighted a cross to the back post and higginbotham was there to nod in. The place erupted, i went crazy and i ended up in the row behind coz wen i jumped someone caught me and pulled me up, the place was electric.

Sunderland got a bit slopped and newcastle equalised with a cross from james milner. It looked liked newcastle were going to go on and win the game, but 2 mins later kenwyn jones lost his man and rifled a shot just past the post, shouldve been 2-1.

Later on in the half straight from a corner chopra hit the bar with a header, he shouldve scored there, what a story that wouldve been!

The game ended 1-1 and sunderland threw away 2 points. Most people will agree we dominated that game and newcastle got lucky with there goal coming from a cross and barton not being sent off!
