Gordon
Premiership new-boys Sunderland have signed Scottish number 1 Craig Gordon for Hearts for a total of £9 Million. It seems Roy Keane has beaten off a major bid from Aston Villa for Gordon.
Thsi signing breaks the record for the most spent on a keeper in England and also smashes the Black Cats own transfer record which was around 6.75 million for the signing of former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo almost 5 years ago.
Recent media speculation seemed to hint that a deal for Gordon had failed and Keane had started to look at others to fill the role.
Current Black Cat keepers Darren Ward and Martin Fulop may now look for a transfer elsewhere as they both seem to now be surplus to requirement on Wearside. Martin Fulop has recently said he wants first team football or will request a move, this now seems very likely.
