Gills conclude season in defeat

By Jack Nolan
May 5 2007

Gillingham ended the 2006/2007 season with a disappointing defeat in a lacklustre game lacking passion and quality. Two second half goals for Yeovil Town earnt them all three points who are preparing for a play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest. In a typical end of season encounter, the game lacked any real chances or quality. Danny Spiller missed The Gills' best chance of the game with a decent long-range effort.

But goals from Glovers' Jean-Paul Kalala and Wayne Gray secured the victory for Yeovil.

Jean-Paul Kalala opened the scoring with a fine long-range effort from 25-yards.

Wayne Gary completed the scoring having been set one on one against 'keeper Simon Royce.

The final whistle was met with some unnecessary jeering for the defeat, but then there was a lap of honour in thanks to the Gillingham fans' support over the course of the season.
