January Rumour Mill

By Jack Nolan
January 16 2007

Rumours have been circulating that Danny Spiller has fallen out with Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson and has agreed to join Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season. Jepson publicly criticised Spiller for his blunder leading to Doncaster's second goal last Saturday.
SPILLS TO JOIN OWLS?

Spiller is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer at the end of the season. Spiller, who is in his last year of his contract and is also transfer listed, is one of the high earners at Priestfield, despite normally warming the bench. It was Spiller's mistake that allowed Doncaster to score their second goal last Saturday, and Jepson surprisingly openly criticised Spiller to the press. It was always rumoured before Jepson's post match comments on Saturday that the two had fallen out.

NO KNIGHT DEAL

Ronnie Jepson has given up hope on signing Swansea City striker Leon Knight, as The Gills cannot afford Swansea's asking price. Jepson was close to signing Knight last year on loan before the striker opted to join Championship outfit Barnsley on loan instead, however his loan spell there was unsuccessful and was returned to Swansea.

JARVO TO REPLACE YOUNG AT WATFORD?

It now seems almost certain that Watford star Ashley Young shall leave the Hornets very soon in a big money move. This could mean that Watford shall try and sign Gillingham star Matty Jarvis for £1.5million pounds. Jarvis has been linked with a move away from Priestfield ever since the beginning of the current season.
