At Gedling Road
K-O: 7.30pm
Admission: Adults £5, Concessions £2.50

Steve Thompson has chosen to take a mix squad to face Arnold Town tonight, with around seven young professionals as well as a number of scholars going to Gedling Road.

Thompson has arranged a special friendly game behind closed doors today due to the heat wave that has hit the country, he explained that it has made local pitches very hard to play on and arranged the friendly for the First Team squad to play on a very good surface.

Speaking to Magpie World, Thompson said: “Due to the totally unexpected heat-wave that has swept the Country over the last week or so it has made local pitches very, very hard to play on.”

“We saw at Hucknall how hard it was there, and a lot of the lads had blisters such as Lawrie Dudfield whose feet were bleeding a fair bit.”

“A lot of local pitches are very hard due to the heat, and circumstances beyond their control it is very hard to play on. Therefore, we have decided to send a side of fairly young professionals to Arnold tonight along with some of our scholars.”

“It is essential that the players play on a good surfaces as well. With the Scholars needing to play it is important that everyone at the Club gets to play a game.”

Pilkington and Deeney are expected to play a half each, while Needham, Sheridan, Frost and Wilson are all likely to feature in the game as well as a number of Scholars who have remained at the Club from last season despite the closure of the Centre of Excellence.

Rob and Matt Austin, Steve Akers, Daryl Hewitt, Ryan Holloy and Sam Craven continues to train with Notts County on a daily basis in what is the second year of a two-year Scholarship they signed last season.
