Steve Thompson's is set to have Notts play at high tempo from the start of the season and has even used double sessions in order to get the players fit for the new season. Steve Thompson has made it clear that he wants the Magpies to perform at high tempo come the start of the season with a number of talented flair players such has Andy Parkinson and Tcham N’Toya over this summer.

Thompson has used double sessions almost every day in order to get the players fit to continue at a high tempo, and combined with football sessions it has helped improve the fitness of the squad and with a number of fitness monitors and heart monitors coaching staff can keep an eye on the players’ fitness level like never before.

Not only will the fitness give the players a good chance to play at high tempo it will also help them with their concentration level.

Speaking to Magpie World, Thompson said: “You have to be fit to play the game, and I want us to be one of the fittest teams in the league.”

“We want to play the game at a high tempo and we also want Meadow Lane to be a real fortress”

“To do that, you have to be fit. We won’t lose the sight of the football during pre-season, but if you want to play you have to be fit.”

“If you aren’t fit your concentration levels go down and you concede late goals. We don’t want that to happen, and we are focusing on getting fit and setting the standard with a quick tempo.”

Notts will need tempo going in to their first league game against play-off spot finishers last season, Lincoln City, We will be giving our predictions nearer the time.
