Lee fit and ready for new season

Ex-Forest and Boston striker Jason Lee says he is fit and ready for the new season and is determined to play for as long as he can.

Jason Lee say’s he is fit and ready for everything after speaking to Magpie World and is feeling in good condition after a week of pre-season training.

The 35-year-old is determined to play for as long as he can after being one of Steve Thompson’s first signings since taking over at the Magpies last month.

Lee told Magpie World: “If I wasn’t feeling right or ready for the challenge I would call it a day.”

“I’ve been pretty fortunate injury-wise during my career and I have always told myself I will play as long as I can.”

“I have also kept myself fit and I will play for as long as I can and I am enjoying every day of it right now.”

Lee believes that one factor in the squads favour is that a number of the players know each other from other clubs, and now as a big part to play in getting the squad ready for the new season, since being made Club Captain.

Lee continued “I’ve been through far too many pre-seasons now.”

“It probably is the downside to it all the amount of running we do, but even that I still enjoy.”

“you have to do the work though, this is the start of a long, hard season. We know that the first week or so is all about getting fit and we have gradually been eased into the ball work.”

“I’ve had many years of experience now, but it is still boring, I enjoy everything though.”

“As a team, one thing that bodes well is the fact that quite a lot of us know each other through clubs.”

“We still need to gel as a team and that is what pre-season is all about.”

“By the start of the season I am confident we will have had a good pre-season and will be firmly focused for the season.”
