The Wolves defender has been one of the best defenders in the Championship for quite some time now and has attracted interest from several clubs in the Premiership, however Everton was his first choice. Lescott missed the whole season in Wolves' only Premiership campaign to date because a severe knee injury, so lescott will be hoping to show everyone that he is more than capable at this level and his knee problems are behind him. David Moyes has believes that Lescott will have no problems becoming a good premiership player.
Moyes said, 'He is another young, up and coming player. Another British lad and from my point of view he is the best centre half in the Championship that I have seen.'
'This year we have seen people like Daniel Gabbidon and Curtis Davies both step up and look good players in the Premier League, so we are more than hopeful that Joleon will do the same here.'
The signing of Lescott is Everton's third signing of the summer following the aqquisitions of Tim Howard on loan from Manchester United and Andy Johnson for a club record 8.6million. These were the three areas David Moyes felt were most pressing, so this could well be the end of the major signings this summer unless any major players are set to leave.
