Bolton Wanderers Res. 0 Leeds United Res. 1
By Mark Heys
January 23 2006
The reserves unbeaten run came to an end this evening as a second half goal from defender Rui Marques gave Leeds United their first reserve win in eight matches.
Marques struck on 63 minutes from close range after the Wanderers defenders had failed to clear their lines following a dangerous corner by Jermaine Wright into the eighteen yard area.

FA Youth Cup hero Leslie Thompson had Bolton's best chance of the first half but he could not steer the ball past Leeds keeper Ben Smith following some good interplay by Bedi Buval and Jarostaw Fojut.

Frenchman Buval was later stretchered off from the field of play just before half time with a suspected knee injury, thus forcing the Wanderers to change their gameplan slightly.

Bolton keeper Ali Al-Habsi denied Leeds quartet Ian Moore, Nick Gray, Jonathan Howson and Icelander Gylfi Einarsson in the second half but he could do nothing about the matchwinning goal from Marques.

Fojut nearly rescued a point for the Trotters on 73 minutes but the Polish youth international was to fire his shot wide of Smith's goal leaving the hosts defeated for the first time in 2006.
