Leeds United Res. 0 Bolton Wanderers Res. 1
By Mark Heys
September 15 2005
Bolton Wanderers reserves claimed their first league win of the new season as a Simon Madden own goal gave them victory against Leeds United at the South Leeds Stadium last night.
The Irish full back Madden was unlucky to have deflected the ball past Leeds goalkeeper Mark Wilberforce following a goalbound shot by Bolton's French forward Bedi Buval.

United striker Jonathan Howson fired over the crossbar of Bolton keeper Sam Ashton in the first half whilst former Tranmere Rovers and Burnley star Ian Moore headed straight at the goalkeeper at the start of the second period.

Ashton later saved well from Leeds midfielder Danny Pugh after the ex-Manchester United reserve had fired in a shot from a good 25-yards in an attempt to get the home side back on level terms.

Bolton held out for victory to record their first FA Premier Reserve league win since the tail end of the 2004-2005 season when they beat Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers thanks to a Blessing Kaku penalty.
