Ali Concentrates On Survival

Ali Staying Focused
By Mark Heys March 30 2008
Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi is refusing to get carried away with his baptism of fire in the Premier League and insists that his main concern is helping the club to maintain their top flight status.

The Oman international has performed admirably in the past few games in the absence of regular stopper Jussi Jaaskelainen but he is willing to swap praise for wins going into the relegation run in.

Al-Habsi was on the wrong side of a five goal thriller during Bolton's 3-2 defeat at home to Arsenal yesterday afternoon and he told the Daily Mail that he will do all he can to prolong the Wanderers seven year stay amongst England's elite.

"I want to concentrate on Bolton, This is my club and we are having a hard time. We must keep the club in the Premier League, and we can do it. " said the former Lyn Oslo player

"I am not in a rush. A goalkeeper can play until 40 or older - I am 26. One day I will have a bad time, every player does, but it's how you cope with it that matters.

"I hope that this year I am one of the players who helps keep Bolton up. We have experienced players, very good players - you can go right through the team-sheet, but we need wins."

Victories are indeed in short supply for the Trotters with no win since a 2-0 success at Reading at the start of February and six defeats in the last seven games.
