Megson To Sanction Meite Loan Exit

Meite - possible loan?
By Mark Heys March 27 2008
Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has stated that he would be open to allowing unsettled defender Abdoulaye Meite move on before the closure of tonight's football league loan deadline.

Meite refused to come out and play in the second half of Bolton's defeat against Manchester United just over a week ago and his future at the Reebok Stadium is on shaky ground.

The Ivorian's decision disappointed management and team mates alike, and now the former Marseille man will be placed on the open to offers list, possibly with a move to the Championship in mind.

An approach from Ipswich has already been snubbed by the player but Megson says he would have been more than willing to allow the player join the Suffolk club.

"He just decided he didn't want to play on against Manchester United in the second half, The players weren't happy with it, the squad wasn't happy with it." said manager Megson

"Abdoulaye turned down the opportunity to go to Ipswich on loan but I'd have let him go. There's another couple of Championship clubs he can go to until the end of the season. It's not a case that we won't pick Abdoulaye Meite, it's a case of we've got people playing in that position and playing very well."

Meite was left out of Bolton's goalless draw against Manchester City last weekend and will play no further part in the Wanderers final eight matches.
