Meite Frozen Out After United Outburst

Meite - refused to play
By Mark Heys March 21 2008
Ivory Coast international Abdoulaye Meite could have played his last game for Bolton Wanderers after refusing to come out for the second half of Wanderers defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday evening.

Meite was given his first league start since the start of January due to the absence of the injured Gary Cahill and his performance was somewhat shaky.

During the half time interval at Old Trafford the former Marseille centre half claimed he had an injury and couldn't carry on but after checks the Wanderers medical staff deemed him fit to continue.

A row with manager Gary Megson ensued and it is now claimed the 27-year old will spend what is left of the season training with the reserve side.

The spat against United is alleged to be the culmination of a difference of opinion which began after Meite's return from the African Nations Cup earlier this year.

Meite joined Bolton almost two years ago and was an almost ever present in his first season with the club making well over 30 appearances in all competitions.
