The tall forward, who was signed by Keith Curle last summer from Yeovil, has added just 4 goals to the cause in 34 league appearances. "Brian Horton (Macclesfield manager) spoke to me about taking Marcus on loan until the end of the season, and now that Jake Edwards has joined us, it seems the right move for both the player and ourselves."
Mark Wright attempted to add to yesterday's aqquisition of Jake Edwards by bringing 31-year-old Scott Stamps back into league football, but has been thwarted by the Lamb's poor league placing, which has persuaded boss Mark Cooper to keep hold of his assets. Stamps, a wing back, has made nearly 300 appearances for Torquay United, Colchester United, and Kidderminster Harriers.
It appears that a move will now be put on hold until the end of the season, because Stamps is keen on a move to league football (that's if Chester can stay in the league).
In other activity today, four former Chester players (and hopefuls) moved club. Goal machine Daryl Clare, who has been unattached since leaving relegation-threatened Crawley, joined Burton Albion, despite interest from Lincoln City. Paul Warhurst, who was on trial in the summer of 2004 has joined up with Barnet, and Walsall striker, Taiwo Atieno, who Chester once had on loan, has joined Darlington. Wayne Corden, who was at Chester for a very short loan period, has gone to high-flying Leyton Orient on loan.
