Chester tried to sign Wycombe goalkeeper.
By Chris Thompson November 26 2005
Chester failed in their attempt to sign Wycombe goalkeeper Frank Talia on Thursday as well as L1 midfielder, says reports.
In an interview with Bucks Free Press Australian shotstopper Frank Talia admitted that Keith Curle had approached him about making a short term loan deal to Chester.

Curle refuesed to name any of the players he approached before the transfer window closed at 5pm on Thursday, however a goalkeeper, a L1 midfielder and Macclesfield's Neil MacKenzie were reportedly at the top of Chester's wishlist.

Talia, 33, has been continually dropped from Wycombe's starting XI to loan cover, and most recently, former Chester loanee Ian Turner has done just that.

Chris MacKenzie was taken ill on Friday with a virus, leading the way for untried reserve 'keeper Ryan Brookfield to make his full league debut against Peterborough.

And Chester must now do without any cover ahead of the visit of the London Road club, and Frank Talia, depite inconsistent form in a Wycombe shirt, would have been a welcome addition.

Frank Talia: I've had a few offers and obviously I'm not happy not playing at the moment but I want to fight for my place. I like it at Wycombe and I really like the manager.

I think it is harsh that I have lost my place. I haven't been on the losing side in the league yet and to lose your place when you look at the statistics seems a bit harsh.

But it is the manager's decision and it's up to me to prove him wrong and that is what I will be trying to do.

I'm going into training each day and I'll work hard and do my weights and everything because the tide will turn eventually, if not here then somewhere else. But hopefully it will be at Wycombe because I want to win promotion here.
