Deadline day transfer round-up
By Me!
September 2 2005
It was a considerably eventful day on deadline day, as expected. Here's the round-up of all the deadline day transfers in the Scottish Premier League...
Rangers have signed Jeffers on loan until January. Jeffers claims he is desperate to make an impact. Seeing as it is the Scottish Premier League, that shouldn't be too hard. Although, I reckon it'll prove to be a task for Jeffers. Rangers' defender, Michael Ball, has signed a 2-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, with Dutch Champions PSV Eindhoven. He was understood to have also talked with Birmingham, but the Englishman opted to join the Dutch Giants. Rangers are planning to hold talks with free agent Olivier Bernard to replace Ball. Hearts have signed striker Camazzola from Brazilian club Juventude, on a one-year loan deal. Upon signing, the deluded midfielder said: ""We don't hear a lot about Scottish football in Brazil, but we hear that they are very good technically." I think you heard wrong then. Livingston have signed Coventry City striker Graham Barrett on loan. Livingston's manager, Paul Lambert, indicated that he would like to keep the Republic of Ireland international beyond the loan period... Aberdeen have signed released Dundee United striker, Steve Crawford. The Scottish international has signed a 2-year deal. Rangers have signed 32-year old Italian striker Filippo Maniero. Motherwell have signed centre-half Steve McDonald on loan until January. They have also signed versatile defender/midfielder, McLean for that period too. Sheffield Wednesday have snapped up Maurice Ross on a years loan from Rangers, after a second attempt. The defender rejected a permanent move, but Rangers were desperate to see the back of him. Blackburn have signed Rangers' defender Zurab Khizanishvili. The Georgian international has signed on a seasons long loan with the option to make the move permanent. Celtic have signed Chinese international Du Wei on a four-year contract. The defender is grateful to Celtic for signing him, and he will do his best to earn a first-team regular start. Not that it'll be too hard, that is.
