Despite both teams creating plenty of chances in the first half both teams went into the changing rooms at half time with the score 0-0. Saints came out and grabbed the opener early on in the second half. McKenna put St. Mirren ahead from the penalty spot after 50 minutes. Dundee United hit back 15 minutes later, thanks to a goal from David Goodwillie, a player who is only 15 and currently playing in the Scotland under 16s. However with just over 15 minutes later Craig Molloy scored the goal that put St. Mirren into the SFA Youth Cup Final for the first time in St. Mirren's history.
St. Mirren defeated Abroath and Kilmarnock away from home and Ross County and Rangers at home before defeating Dundee United in the Semi-Final.
St. Mirren U19's will now wait for the outcome of the game between Celtic U19's and Hearts U19's to find out who they play in the final.
