Levein relieved of Scotland post.

The SFA board finally took the decision to relieve Scotland Manager Craig Levein of his post.

Four games into another dismal qualifying campaign the SFA board finally made the decision, after weeks of debate to get rid of Manager Craig Levein. Although rather than pay him off they will continue to pay him as normal until his contract runs out, or he gets another job.

I do feel sorry for Levein, who was my first choice for the job when it became vacant. Sadly some of his selections have mystified me along with his tactical choices. This has led to some of the shocking results we have seen in the last few years, and ultimately cost him his job.

He has never recovered from the appalling 4-6-0 selection against theCzechRepublic, which ended in a 0-1 defeat. For me this was compounded with what I see as the disastrous US tour in the summer, when it appeared to be a jolly boys outing ending in a disastrous 5-0 defeat to the Americans.

Now the decision has finally been taken I hope we don’t rush into accepting the usual suspects, eg Strachan, Souness, Calderwood, Smith etc etc. Stewart Regan has already said they will take the time to make sure the correct man is selected.

I for one hope they turn every stone to find the right person, and we should not be worried about going for a foreign person again. I know we got our fingers burnt a bit by wee Berti, but in the end he was no worse than our own natives, Burley and Levein.

If anyone tells me whoever comes in can’t get more out of what we have I will give them a long list of reasons why they could….
