Scotland fail again, can Levein survive

Despite leading 1-0 for a long spell Scotland were beaten away again thanks to two second half goals from Gareth Bale.

James Morrison’s first half goal gaveScotlanda lead at half time they probably just about deserved. Then they sat a bit deeper in the second half and lost two second half goals from Man of the Match Gareth Bale.

There has been much talk since the game that we had a goal disallowed for no real reason. The linesman seemed to think the cross had bent out of play, but TV pictures show it was miles in.

Then there are appeals that Bale went down to easily for the penalty he converted. I thought Maloney just clipped the Welshman as he burst into the box.

We also had to deal with Charlie Adam switching off to allow Bale a free run for a shot from 20 yards that left McGregor helpless.

All this aside it is another Qualifying campaign that is over, and is making Manager Craig Levein’s assertion we could win all our games look stupid. The manager is now under pressure given we have only taken two points from nine so far.

Despite supposedly having a deep scouting network, we still can’t find a right back who is playing regularly and we are relying on Alan Hutton who only seems to play forScotlandnow.

Levein has always said to judge him on how things are improving as well as results, sadly results are what the game is about, and surely his time has now come to an end.

Looking at the replays no blame can be put on Bale. I don't think the defender did anything wrong and Bale tripped himself up. The blame lies with the linesman who should have spotted it.
