Hibs 3-0 win over Dundee yesterday saw them go top of the SPL as Motherwell’s game with Dundee Utd was called off before kick off.

Hibs recovery from a poor opening couple of games continues to show no sign of fading, as they moved top of the SPL, for a day or so at least. They saw off bottom of the tableDundeeby three goals to nil at Easter Rd.

Goals from Doyle, Griffiths and Wotherspoon were enough to see off theDensParkside. This run will have a lot of people having to take pack their words as Pat Fenlon was ridiculed last season for his signings and poor results.

Now he has had the chance to get his own players in, and significantly some wasters out, he has been able to get his own style imposed on the team. It is early days yet but they are looking more resolute than they have for a number of seasons under higher profile managers.

As forDundee, they continue to struggle and are beginning to look as though they will be the team to be cut adrift this season while almost every above them fights for a European place given how tight the League is.

The other major talking point yesterday was the cancellation of the game atFirParkdue to a power failure outside the ground. The lights went out just before the scheduled kick off of 3pm, and the fans were told there would be a ten minute delay.

During that time the lights went out again, and it was obvious there was a major problem within the stadium. It was therefore no surprise when the game was called off and the stadium evacuated.

This is disappointing for Motherwell who saw a game abandoned against Hibs last season for an electrical failure in the South Stand, that was an internal problem. This time they have been quick to point out the problem was outwith their control with houses and other businesses being without power in the surrounding area.

The game being called off gave the two managers the chance to say how it denied the chance of winning and bouncing back following difficult defeats in recent weeks. Time will tell who was correct…..
