More fun and games with Rangers today!!

After the outcome of the SFA judicial hearing yesterday Rangers fans and administrators are striking back, but seem to have missed the point.

The administrators Duff and Phelps have already indicated they will appeal against the decision, believing it is “prejudicing the future” of the club, and in some places the future of Scottish football.

They say they have not noted the difference between the club and the owner Craig Whyte when making their decision. This would seem to be acceptable if all of the issues were carried out under Whyte’s reign, and if they are they may be right to appeal.

Having said that Whyte was the owner of the club and as such was acting on behalf of Rangers FC, hard to see where the line is drawn here.

To take it a bit further back, Rangers have allegedly been trading without paying creditors and tax for some time and therefore not operating within even the spirit of the game. You could then argue they are getting what they deserve.

The fans are now arguing that the SFA are to blame as they did not carry out the fit and proper person test on Whyte. They seem to forget it was them who clapped him downEdminston Drivethe day he took over. Since then they spent months defending him, until he put them into administration and they realised what a Charlatan he was.

There is no doubt Rangers deserve some form of punishment for the way they have carried out their business in recent months, and they cannot be treated as a special case. As the old cliché goes, no club is bigger than Scottish football, but we will wait and see what happens with this particular case!
