Celtic announce Interim financial results
By Graham Barnstaple
February 13 2012
Celtic have today announced their financial results for the second half of last year, and they show a bit of a mixed picture.

The highlights of the results released today are;

Turnover up 3.1% to £29.27m

Bank debt reduced to £7.05m from £9.09m

Pre tax profits down to £180k from £7m

Player sales - £3.1m against £13.2m (Almost all Aiden McGeady)

The Chairman’s statement is rightly bullish about the overall picture, which has seen the club reduce debt while at the same time improving the playing squad by investing £4.4m in the squad in the summer.

This has seen them continue to fight on all three domestic fronts, already in the League Cup Final, Leading the SPL by four points and in the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup.

It would be easy to compare this to theirGlasgowneighbours who are left with only the SPL to chase, but that would unfair. These results deserve to stand on their own, and given the current financial plight of Scottish Football these are positive results.
