Blue Rinse Brigade
By Mister Happy March 10 2005
From the land of dentures and incontinent pads we extend a warm welcome to AFC Bournemouth
Mister Happy for once has nothing to moan about. Bournemouth the club and Bournemouth the town are both relatively normal.

It is a pleasant town situated on the south coast. It is inhabited by good natured friendly folk who like nothing better than a good old natter about how much better things were in the good old days.

The Cherries are a threat to no-one. They are hospitable, friendly and attempt to play decent football. Even the exciting AFC before their name adds to their charm. Maybe matches at Bescot Stadium would be more appealing if we called ourselves AFC Walsall.

The club could redesign the badge, market the new design, sell loads more clobber and make vast amounts of money. AFC Walsall definitely conjures up a much more appealing image than that created by the grubby and industrialised Walsall FC.

This coming weekend the blue rinse brigade make the short hop up to Bescot. I say short hop as it amuses me that Saddlers fans consider a trip to Bournemouth to be to the other side of the world whilst fans of the Cherries consider a trip to Bescot to be a luxury.

They are currently looking to cement a place in the play offs and lie conveniently in sixth place. Sadly for the Cherries, Brentford have 3 games in hand so this is a match they really must win. We, on the other hand, are still looking to get points to ensure we don’t suffer two successive relegations.

This will certainly be a tough match. On their travels the Cherries have won their last two defeating Swindon Town 3-0 and Barnsley 1-0. Unfortunately last time out (Tuesday night) they lost at home against Blackpool.

In the goals department Hayter and O’Connor have notched up 30 between them.

Despite going 2-0 up at Dean Court early on in the season Bournemouth came back and secured a point.

This is an extremely difficult one to call and Mister Happy predicts yet another home draw.

Saddlers 2 Cherries 2
