Player attributes

Mark Wright made his debut in a Worthington Cup tie against West Ham United. The Saddlers drew the game 1-1, and Wright was in his first season as a full professional.

His chances were limited for the rest of 00/01, because the club had more experienced wide men. It was the same for Wright in 01/02, but Ray Graydon managed to send him out on loan to Nuneaton where they were impressed with his contribution.

02/03 saw Wright figuring in Colin Lee's plans. He made impressive starts at both Molinuex at Bramhall Lane where he was a contender for the Man of the Match awards. Wright was dropped after the Blades game, and struggled to win his place back, much to the surprise of those who had seen him play at Bramhall Lane.

Fr the rest of the season he made the odd appearance from the Bench, and began to skipper the reserves, where his performances were always impressive.

Wright got more of a chance towards the end of 03-04, even managing to grab goals during the end of season run in.

He started off the following season as the first choice right back - not his natural position - or one he looked comfortable with - but he stuck with it and eventually started to play wide right towards the end of 04-05.

His performances during the closing stages of 04-05 have left the Walsall fans wanting more of his exciting wing play and dazzling runs forward.

Player attributes
Mark Wright is an exiting player. He can play as a winger, a full back, a center forward or as a central midfielder. His pace and ability to beat players makes him suited to playing on the wing. He is a good crosser of the ball, whose ability to play in more than one position makes him a valuable asset to the squad.
