Leite, who was a regular for the Portugal U-21's spent the 2003/04 season as back up keeper at Charlton, it was then that Peter Taylor first tried to sign him, however the deal fell through after a bereavement in the player's family saw him return to his native country to play for 2nd division Ovarense.
Leite follows Curtis Woodhouse, Stephen McPhee and Keith Andrews into the new look Tigers squad for next season, making him the fourth of the promised six signings this summer. The last two targets are being kept very quiet, however Chairman Adam Pearson has given a few clues - neither will be aging ex-Premiership has-beens, one will probably be a defender and one could be another front man. A possibility is that one or both will be here on season long loans.
Meanwhile the club are looking to off-load three players to reduce the total wage bill from £4m to around £3.6m. The players surplus to requirements are strikers Aaron Wilbraham, Jon Walters and right-back Robbie Stockdale.
The first team squad as it stands 10/06/05:
GK: Myhill, Leite
DR: Thelwell, Wiseman
DL: Dawson, Edge
DC: Cort, Delaney, Joseph
MC: Ashbee, Andrews, Woodhouse, Green, Lewis
MR: France, Price
ML: Elliott, Ellison
