This Saturday May 8th, the people of Hull are being asked to turn out in force for a massive party to celebrate Hull City's historic back-to-back promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship. Read on for the Official details on the day celebrations, including the open-top bus route.

The details come from the official Website: "Hull City Council's events team, together with its media partners, has organised a day to remember, including the chance to see the heroic Tigers touring the city on two open-topped buses as well as the official team coach."

"Other exciting highlights of the day, on May 8, 2005, will see Viking FM Breakfast Show presenters Foxy & Tom kick-starting a party in Queen Victoria Square along with BBC Radio Humberside's sports commentator David Burns. BBC Look North presenter Helen Philpott will also be there with a TV camera crew to capture the party atmosphere. There will also be a firework extravaganza to round off the evening's entertainment."

"The fun kicks-off at the Kingston Communications Stadium, the home of Hull City AFC, at 6pm when the promotion-winning players, their partners, manager Peter Taylor and other club officials, will leave in a cavalcade to tour the city. The two open-topped buses and the official team coach take the following route:

Start at KC Stadium - Anlaby Road (past Boothferry Park), left turn - Askew Avenue, left turn - Over the Hessle Road flyover, left turn - Hessle Road, left turn - Rawlings Way, right turn Anlaby Road, passing Hull Royal Infirmary and The Tigers' Lair, left turn - Ferensway, right turn - Freetown Way, right turn - Wilberforce Drive, left turn - Alfred Gelder Street, straight on - Drypool Bridge - Clarence Street, right turn - Holderness Road, right turn - Southcoates Lane, right turn - Garrison Road - Castle Street, right turn - Ferensway, right turn - Carr Lane and Finish at the City Hall."

"It is expected that the entourage will arrive at the City Hall at 7pm where the party in Queen Victoria Square will already be in full swing with quizzes and competitions galore."

"After the players have had a chance to freshen themselves up, they will be announced on an individual basis to the crowd.The players will then appear on the City Hall balcony with images being relayed live on the Big Screen giving everyone the chance to see the proceedings up close."

"The grand finale will see the fireworks show round off what promises to be a truly memorable day."
