Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate has called for his team-mates to stop feeling sorry for themselves and start being more ruthless. Boro suffered another frustrating away day as Gareth Southgate's men spurned a hatful of chances against Everton.

And Woodgate told the club's official website: "We have to defend as a team and we have to attack as a team. We've had chances at West Ham and we've had chances against Sunderland but we're not being ruthless enough.

"We're getting on top and were not scoring at the vital times.

"If you get a good 10 minute spell in any game and get openings, you've got to put them away - it's as simple as that,

"We're not playing well home or away and we can't keep on saying that we're being unlucky because we missed a few chances."
