I’ve never liked to be a pessimist, but I think it’s time to call it a day on our dreams of a third successive promotion.
The game against Sheffield Wednesday was an AMAZING chance to beat our rivals, get revenge, and gain valuable ground in the playoff race.
But despite dominating, (68% of the possession), Doncaster could not even score in the Wendies net; Lewis Guy having the only REAL opportunity.
It leaves us 6 points off 6th place, which may not sound like much, but when you have another 4 clubs above you also going for that spot, it’s going to be a challenge.
It’s been a great season there is no doubting that. We got 2 successive promotions then made a bid for a third, but it is not to be.
We still have difficult games to play, not least Luton Town on the last day of the season.
Until we are mathematically out of the race, I’m sure the club will not continue to give 100% for the fans, but I think that this year…it’s not our year.
But next year…watch out for Rovers.
Is Nick talking rubbish? Can we still make the playoffs? Give your thoughts and opinions on the message board.
