Rovers Settle for a Point
By Nick Raynor
January 8 2005
Doncaster had to settle for a point in the match against 6th placed Bournemouth today.

Placed in 14th before the match, Doncaster went in with high confidence against high-placed Bournemouth and were unlucky not to send the visitors home with nothing.

The first half was dull except for a Wade Elliot goal was unjustly disallowed for offside on 11 minutes.

But there was no offside as Bournemouth took the lead through John Spicer as it went half time after heading in a cross from Wade Elliot.

Doncaster came out pumped up in the second half and got their reward when Paul Green nodded home a Dave Mulligan free-kick.

But disaster struck for the Cherries when on 71 minutes, Brian Stock was sent off for violent conduct after a scathing tackle on Doncaster’s John Doolan.

Doncaster worked their hearts out trying to grab a winner with McSporran volleying inches wide and on-loan striker Simon Johnson also just missing.

Doncaster remain in 14th place and Bournemouth are also stationary in 6th.

Final Score: 1-1
