Walsall vs. Doncaster
By Nick Raynor
January 2 2005
Dave Penney and his Doncaster side will travel to Walsall on New Years Day for their first match in 2005.

Doncaster currently lie 14th in the table with Walsall just 1 point behind them in 16th so this is a vital match for Rovers.

Doncaster’s recent form is nothing to boast about, earning only 6 points from six games whereas Walsall are doing very well with 10 points from the last 6 games.

Doncaster will be looking to show bouncebackability after losing to local rivals, Hull City after an unlucky 2-1 defeat but will be difficult away to a Walsall side high on confidence after a 3-1 thrashing of Chesterfield on Tuesday.

Walsall are likely to be missing Ian Roper and Matty Fryatt, both sustaining knee injuries.

Emblen is expected to start despite a neck injury and Herivelto could make his first start for Walsall in his second stint at the club.

Meanwhile, Rovers will be missing McSporran after he was sent off for 2 bookable offences against Hull on Wednesday.

Marples (groin) is doubtful while Jackson (shin), Fortune-West (knee) and Priet (foot) all continue to be sidelined.
