Hull Steal it from Donny
By Nick Raynor
January 2 2005
Hull nicked all 3 points from Doncaster 4 minutes from time in front of a record attendance at the KC Stadium.

This is the second local derby Rovers have lost in the last month and they will feel disappointed not to take at least a point back to South Yorkshire.

Hull took the lead mid-way into the first half when Danny Allsopp ran onto a through ball and neatly knocked the ball home past Andy Warrington.

Rovers equalised on the stroke of half-time through David Mulligan after he scored a top-notch free-kick.

The fact that it was a local derby became apparent in the second half where in total there were 6 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

Nick Barmby was dismissed for Hull on 81 minutes after he got in a scuffle with Doncaster’s Jermaine McSporran who was then given a second yellow after receiving a booking in the first half.

5 minutes later it was disaster for Rovers when Stuart Elliot ran from deep and scored past Warrington to send Doncaster home with nothing to show for their efforts.

Hull are now in 2nd place, just 2 points off league leaders Luton Town whereas Doncaster sit in 14th position, 6 points off a play-off place and 11 points clear of the drop zone.

Final Score: 2 – 1

Attendance: RECORD – 24,117
