Exeter 2 - 1 Doncaster
By Nick Raynor
December 8 2004
Doncaster Rovers have gone crashing out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Conference side, Exeter.

Doncaster were 2-0 down to a side 48 places below them when Greg Blundell gave Rovers glimmer of hope by scoring with just 4 minutes of normal time remaining.

But it wasn’t enough as Exeter City went through to the third round leaving Rovers out of all cup competitions and lying mid-table in the league.

Steve Flack scored the first for Exeter a quarter of the way into the game when he headed an Alex Jeannin free-kick over stranded keeper, Andy Warrington.

Doncaster fought for an equaliser but to no avail when Dean Moxley scored a 45-yard lob over the snoozing Doncaster goalkeeper to give Exeter a 2 goal lead in an emphatic fashion.

Blundell then tapped in from Green’s cross on 86 minutes but it wasn’t enough for Rovers at the full-time whistle.

Doncaster will feel hard done by in their defeat as Gregg Blundell and Guy Ipoua hit the woodwork.
