FOOTBALLERS PERSONAL LIVES AND THE FOOTY PHONE INS.
By John Christie

Football fans have always liked nothing better than to chew the cud over a pint before, and after the game. Since time began we have been able to engage a fellow fan, whether he be from Manchester or Madrid, in verbal banter. Heated or jovial can be enjoyed, but there’s always one character who just gets a buzz from taking the opposite opinion, however stupid or ridiculous.

This person probably doesn’t even agree with the points he/she is making. Their aim is simply to sh*t stir and upset the company they are in. We all have met such people and simply treat them with contempt as they are a bit sad.

Unfortunately, in this era of easy media access they have found a niche. Shock jocks evolved in America but have now arrived at our shores just like MacDonald’s, aids and The Dukes Of Hazzard did before them. Their sole purpose is to wind people up with bizarre takes on current affairs to get punters to phone up in their thousands, which of course the phone companies like as do their sponsors.

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story? Why worry about someone’s private life, their kids, their families, if it gets the desired response? These cretins are always very right wing in their political views so nothing better than to bash foreigners, the sick or the unemployed.

Now we have these shock jocks on football phone ins. They are always led by the papers and SSN.  Who, shock horror, owns these radio companies?

Guarantee you will find some numbskull from Brighton claiming to be a Liverpool fan who wants Rafa sacked. Cause don’t you know he’s foreign, and knows nothing about the Premier League.

Lampard’s private life has been dragged into the spotlight by some moron on a London station. Actually called him @#$%&. This type of broadcasting I believe will cause trouble, it plays on negative racist xenophobic storylines. I give these phones ins the utter contempt they deserve, just wish more people would.
