Booing isn't an option if we want to challenge.
By Mighty Reds
November 26 2008
Hearing the booing at Anfield last week-end (though a minority) made me feel like a Newcastle fan. Surely we don’t want to be seen as anything like those fickle deluded dullards from the North East of England. We are Liverpool FC not Newcastle United, leave all that sort of stuff for them, otherwise we may end up as potless and discredited as they are.

Lucas is a young player who needs his confidence building, not continually being put down in the way Leto was.

It’s not about continually blaming one player, or the manager’s selections, that’s what he’s paid for and a good job he’s done too.  It’s a team game and the whole team were responsible for Saturdays draw against Fulham, get over it, we’re still joint top of the league. Every title team we’ve had has dropped unexpected points at times, that’s football.

Keep your booing and criticisms for the after match pint when you can let your frustration rip among other like minded Reds. At the match, support the team, sing and be noisy, inspire them to up their performance if they’re having an off day, not boo them in to a nervous lack of confidence to try things that could change the game.

Hear hear. The people in the crowd are known as Supporters. Support your team. I was as frustrated as anyone on Saturday sat in the freezing cold leaving my 2 week old son at home to watch us struggle to score. But look at their record they have the 4th best defensive record in the League just 1 worse off than Man utd. It's not a total shock they got the draw. They will upset others this season too.

Personally i think the people who booed on saturday (myself included) had every right to boo. I was listening to aldo on radio city on my way to the match and he said that lucas doesnt deserve a place on the bench never mind a place in the starting 11, which i thought was a bit harsh considering the opposition but as soon as i got to my seat in the kop and the match started i could understand what aldo was talking about. Lucas was abysmal and that's being generous to him. The majoriy of the crowd recognised this and from around the 15th -20th minute were calling for alonso. So when there was a substitution about to be made i thought that lucas was going to be put out of his misery only to find that it was maschy and not lucas, 2 more subhs were made throughout the game and lucas remained on the pitch. It says a lot when 40 odd thousand people know when a player is out of his depth, it was just a shame that rafa didnt or did he and was he just to stubborn to correct his error. Football fans emotions run high in games, especially when they can see the problem right in front of them. With lucas in the middle we had no depth, no player who could split a defence and certainly no-one who could takle (maschy not included). As for comparing us with newcastle, you clearly havent got a clue about football mate. When we have a bad patch do our supporters stay away - no, do we hire and sack managers every 5 seconds - no, do we have a history like newcastles - no cause they have no history, do we come out all the time and say we've got the best support in the world - no, cause we dont need to, our support speaks for it's self. So we occasionly boo when we obviously see a problem big deal, it's part of football and always will be. Try and understand football in general before you make silly comments and really mate, comparing us to newcastle fans?? Get a grip.

You're entitled to your opinion mate. I personally think booing at Anfield is the worse thing any Reds fan can do, it's negative and spreads the negativity on to the pitch. As far as I'm concerned Liverpool doesn't need fans like you.

As for Aldo, he was one of the best strikers around and very under-rated but half the time his comments on the radio are way off the mark and uncalled for. I suspect he spends a few hours in his Newz bar before attending.

On the contrary I'd suggest you know little of our history, we don't boo the team, we don't call for a managers head because he made different selections to what we or any X Red player (add name as appropriate)thought he should. You get a grip.

There's no way back Tom. No press release, no statement, no transfer coup, you could provide a birth certificate proving you're the illegitimate son of Bill Shankly and Billy Liddell's daughter and all it would do in Liverpool is confirm you're a ba*stard.

Just a quick reply to the post by Reds. Are you a liverpool fan or a newcastle fan?

Anyway,,,,

Where was I?

Oh yeah...

You NEVER boo your own players - this is a rule that should be carved in stone.

Save your criticism for the pub with your mates etc It´s just plain stupid to do something that might negatively affect your own.

It happened with Drogba at the Bridge a few seasons back - embarrassing.

That's really crushing Dixon.

Couldn't you stick with one of your better known nicknames, far less insulting...(Sm31)

My apologies for being so thick i just got rather confused with this statement about your history

"On the contrary I'd suggest you know little of our history, we don't boo the team, we don't call for a managers head because he made different selections to what we or any X Red player (add name as appropriate)thought he should. You get a grip."

If your a geordie then you are clearly talking out of your backside or in this case your mouth. Having said that i clearly dont know anything of your history cause you havent frickin got one!! Best fans in the land blah blah blah.

Some good points raised there ed!

Although Lucas was pretty awful! I would love to say that we aren't a two player squad but without SG it was difficult to see the other day.

However, I would just like to say that I don't see the point in lashing out at Newcastle supporters though. They have been getting a lot of bad press recently but- most of that is southern-centric baiting... we should know a little about that eh! They will be on the up soon - I know most Liverpool supporters would love to see players like Collocini, Martins, N'Zog, Given, Beye, Taylor, Gutierrez, Owen in our reds side... might take some of the pressure off SG and FT to do all the work!! He He....

Hope we don't drop off at XMAS like ALWAYS! Hehe -
Haway the reds!

(Sm22)(Sm22)(Sm22) @ the geordie, feck off you stupid deluded. Which one are you I wonder, should I check the ip? Nah, can't be arrrsed.

Given isn't, and never has been, as good as our Pepe, so that one is ludicrous.
Martins, we've already had one of them, Cisse who was better than the headless chicken that is Martins.
N'Zogbia, no way, we've had enough of moody French players who think they're better than they are.
Beye, wouldn't mind him as a back up.
Colocini, would he be happy to wait behind Carra, Agger, Skirtel and Big Sami? I doubt that.
Taylor, piiiss off, a real Bramble in the making.
Gutierrez, not good enough for our team, who do you suggest we drop?

Thanks for the laugh though?

No apology needed, Dixon was just having his little joke. I'm a Red who disagrees with your comments, that's all.

Boater is obviously a toon WUM who is also very deluded because I actually thinks he believes those players are as good as their counterparts in our team.

There isn't one of their squad I'd have in ours and that includes our academy product. He left for the 'biggest club in the world' while telling us he was signing a new contract.

Who's crying now Michael? Look where the @#$%& you've ended up. Couldn't have happened to a better player.

Agree, people shouldn't boo the players.

Just one thing about Lucas though. I've not seen anything in him that warrants the amount of appearances his had.

Fecking hell.

For the life of me i cant ever remember the lads booed at the end of the game. The Souness fiasco years ,when Houliet lost the plot and the whole club was unravelling around him. It never happend ,think we as fans thought we were above it ,an unwritten rule passed down .So whats the reason for the change in some fans behaviour? Some say frustration, manager, tactics ,poor players.IMO all this is complete b*llox , Im a fan i dont go to be entertained i go to see us WIN . Rafas a WINNER we are lucky to have him hes working with one armed tied behind his back due to the administration of the club. If anyone doubts his credability every top club on the continent would take him tommorrow thats fact. Frustration yes were all frustrated we want to win ,we wanted 3 more points. So wheres the logic in booing?Does that help the cause one iota? No it f*kin well doesnt , its a negative on all the players , manager ,club. This is a new phenomenon which i am struggling to comprehend at Anfield. Its embarrasing and must be stamped out. If anyone thinks their a fan of my club but openly ridicules ,condems the players manager, club they are not wanted they are a threat to the very fabric of the club and everything we stand for . So moan in the pub on here fine ,at the ground no ,your not wanted . You are the main threat to my team.
