Parry - Money Is Available For Transfers
By Mighty Reds January 1 2008
Rick Parry has stated that money is available for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez if the right players become available. It was widely believed that Liverpool would not spend in the January window but Rafa is confident he’ll get the players he’s asked for. Reds fans hope that Javier Mascherano will be the first signing.

Parry said:

"Money is always available if we need it.

"We're not going to give our plans away, but if we need to do something, we'll do it.

"We spent more money this summer than ever before. The whole business model for the Americans is based on success.

"There is no point investing in a new stadium and having a team that isn't successful – clearly I'm not going to quote figures but there hasn't been any change of budget."

Parry also stressed that he, the club's owners and Rafa Benitez shared the same vision for
Liverpool's future.

He added: "Nobody is demanding we win the Premier League this year or any other year.

"But I think the supporters have an expectation that at least we are going to be in contention and there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

"We are still in contention without a doubt. If we can carry form into the New Year there's absolutely no reason why we can't compete.

"That's the goal for all of us. It's the goal for Rafa, for the supporters and it's a goal for the owners. It's absolutely a shared vision.

"We appointed Rafa because we wanted a manager with experience of winning a major championship. That's what we're aiming for.

"The recent meeting was extremely good. It was cordial and it was very, very positive.

"It gave us the chance to make sure everybody understands where everyone else is coming from. Now, we're just focused on the second half of the season."

(Sm101)liverpool need to clean out the second tier squad players who will never cut the cheese AND get rid of a few under achievers in the first squad top up with more top juniors and buy two or three world class players not including mascherano all up maybe 50 mill pounds.

Happy New Year all.

The biggest under achievers from the first team for me this season have been, Riise, Sissoko and Kuyt.

Possibly even Voronin and Aurelio, although they may be excused by injury and constant position changing.

Happy New Year Capt , Momo doesnt look a happy bunny wouldnt be to suprised if he left .Amasing how things can change in a short time, not that long ago he looked the real deal but now looks a pale shadow of himself .Riise is not the player he was which is a great shame paper talk has him on the way to Valencia. As for Kuyt tremendous work rate but seems to lack a killer instinct in front of goal but his role in the team doesnt help .Aurelio looks good going foreward but still has to proove his defensive capabilities ,looks agreat prospect imo.Veronin is a free , and looks what he is a 4th placed striker .Who ever goes though Rafa has the nack of replaceing them with better players

Exactly Carra. Momo was looking great not too long ago (although he still couldn't pass), but what a change now.

Kuyt works hard and....thats it.
Poor strike rate, can't hold the ball up and his passes normally end up at the opposition's feet.

Perhaps he should cut down the work rate and concentrate on the other parts to his game....in the reserves. How he gets ahead of Crouch is beyond me.
