The much awaited new scoreboard at Prenton Park is finally in place as the revamp of all aspects of the Ground continues at pace….
Following on from the recent unveiling of the refurbished suites and lounges at Prenton Park ahead of the new season, as well as some replacement seats, a newly laid pitch and other much needed alterations, Tranmere have today confirmed that the long awaited new scoreboard is now in place ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Pictured below, the scoreboard above the Cowshed Stand is smaller than its predecessor but will provide seemingly much missed information during matches and hopefully some wins for Rovers as the season progresses.

The project to replace the scoreboard has been part-funded by the Tranmere Rovers Trust, who have also contributed towards the improvements to the disabled facilities, tannoy system, seat repairs and season ticket marketing. The new scoreboard will be first in use for the pre-season friendly against Blackburn Rovers on Friday 24th July at 7:45pm.
Regular Total Tranmere Message Board user ‘Goosed’ who was so desperate to see a new scoreboard installed is currently unavailable for comment but why not not have your say (as we are sure Goosed will in time) on our Message Forum facility below.

Put me down as distinctly unimpressed. I wasn't that bothered by the lack of a scoreboard, unlike some, and would rather have seen something a bit more modern rather than the same dodgy 1990s dot characters if we were going to bother to do it.

The main function of a scoreboard is to say the score just like the main function of a defender is to defend and clear the ball not be like Franz Beckenbauer.

To be honest I disagree. I know what the score is. The main function of the scoreboard is to give additional information - time elapsed (or to go), line-ups, substitutes and the like. As a secondary function the scoreboard is a way for us to create additional revenue through advertising. I don't think this board, which is basically a smaller copy of the old one, enables us to do these things particularly effectively.
