Don't quite understand the above posts! We were every bit as good as B0lton and Everton ,if not better,in last years friendlies, with James Rowe(remember him) starring in both games. As I recall we were all most optimistic for what was to come.

What's the point in the 2 double headers?

What's the point in the 2 double headers?

I'm just guessing but maybe it gives the club a chance to field more players and cast an eye over any trialists / youth players / new signings while giving more players an opportunity to play full games and get match fit?

I have no problem with the physical game, just why not play one on the Sunday?

The double games gives the manager to look at different squad players with his probable best eleven, it also will give him a chance to see what the youth players are like first hand and look at the overall fitness of the squad. The older pros will get their first and second ninety minutes in pre season.
Pre season is all about fitness, and getting to gel, to give the lads a chance at formations and shape. To find weaknesses and strengths. It will give the manager a fair assessment, of what he may need to strengthen before the transfer window closes.
