It all depends on what team Forest put out wether we just get beat or get hammered. Still looking forward to it though.

maybe a draw if we are lucky, but can see forest winning 2-0

Have to be realistic, likely to lose
I will be happy with an improved performance over last Saturday with a few decent attempts at goal. I hope Kirby isn't chosen but if he is i'd like to see less back passes from him.

its down to forest`s team selection and attitude, if its not right we`ll lose narrowly, if there up for it, it may get embarrasing for us

That's good, Will hunting. Thought I would be topical ;0)

Can't get there because of problems on the M56.

Either BBC is wrong or Kirby nowhere to be seen. Wonder why? Injured or considered out of form?

Who's Gumbs on our bench?

Looks like he is a first year scholar. Not too bad a game but we do need a 'lowe' type poacher of goals.

I thought there was a massive improvement from Saturday, that was mainly due to the lack of a certain player. I thought Rowe played very well, got stuck in, played some good balls and I think he should start on Saturday. Defence was very good again and I thought hill at left back was very good. Baggie threatened them, koumas played some fantastic passes and dare I say it, odejayi also played well. We do lack that cutting edge on front of goal which is a worry but all in all, many improvements.

I will say of forest, they are a decent team for sure but when your goalkeeper is wasting time after 20 minutes against a league two side, I would certainly be worried. The red was actually a straight red because it was over the ball and a bad tackle and all of their cards were deserving because they were cynical. Thought the ref had a decent game, only thing he did wrong was not booking their keeper for time wasting.

at least it looked like we had a plan, which on saturday it didnt, some nice football last night, thought gill was very good amongst some other stand out performances, defensivley quite solid, koumas was hungry for the ball and wanted it all over the pitch, odejeyi as i thought is much better in that front position than stockton, downside we got into some excellent positions and made the wrong decisions again, still not convinced about the formation, but much happier than saturday, think we can kick on from here and challenge for the top 7

Big worry for me is where the goals are coming from.

Kay odejayo wont get us enough goals to make us challenge and Richards has never been prolific either. When Cole came on he instantly had two shots on target which is more than Kay did in the whole 90.

Defence looks very solid and midfield steady/hardworking but need to play Richards up top with Cole with Bruna in behind pulling the strings if we are going to create chances.

Like the look of Hall but don't think Danny Holmes is good enough at this level - need to get a strong running young flu back on loan for a season who can get up and down the right side.

Easy being a keyboard coach isn't it!!!!

Holmes's primary job is to defend.
Blame the wingers if they need help to beat the opposition full back, as they are not bombing back to help Holmes out defensively- he is expected to work at both ends of the pitch - why not them?
Too often they are static, and fail to stretch their opponent.
If we are playing wing backs, then a fair criticism - in this instance not - two wide men (ABB played better) but no quality or penetration in respect of the service to the forward(s).

STrange - when a few expressed doubts as to KO's ability to score significantly at the time he was signed, lots of people said wait till you see him play - yet now after 1 game and one substitute appearance no dissenters?

we got plenty of balls into the box on tuesday but they were either poor crosses or we didnt get enough bodies in there, it was to easy for the forest center halfs, as for KO i thought he looked decent against championship defenders, but i`m expecting more against league 2 defenders, as for the formation its fine away from home but at home we need 2 strikers or we wont score enough goals to mount any sort of challenge

Hume and ko or stockton up front

I must admit I am confused on formation. Papers said 442 but it looked more like 451. I also thought RE said he would bring back an attacking approach. Maybe it is currently about player confidence building.

I think the team did well not to fall victim to the early goal, by conceding a bucket load. They held out for around 40 minutes before the sending off and the quality teams like Forest posses, means that even with 10 men such a team will be a credible threat against any league 2 side.

I think based on the first two games, the defense and goalkeeper should largely look after themselves for the most part, but ruthlessness in front of goal needs to be addressed a little, as right now there is a bit of concern for me over the number of overall shots versus shots on target.

I think it may be the case that 85%-90% of all games this season, will result in 6-12 chances being created for Tranmere, but if too many games result in 1, 2 sometimes 3 on target shots, then goals will not be forthcoming enough and pressure will be added to the defense in terms of try to keep many clean sheets.

Perhaps Edwards could have small targets I:E 40%-50% of all shots on the money and try to aim for 6 goals out every 5 games, as I don't think that's asking too much or expecting players like Odejayi, Stockton and Richards to play like Daniel Sturridge.

If the team averaged 1.2 goals a game, but were good enough to concede an average of 1 a game, then you'd be looking at around 9-10 goal difference in May and based on results, that might just be enough to nick 7th.

However I'm not significantly concerned at this stage, but I would be if the team score 2-3 in their first 6 matches, but as it's early days, time should be afforded for the new regime to progress, not least as early injuries to players are already causing a little bit of chopping and changing, but hopefully in the nest 6-8 weeks Edwards will be able to field a side that would be considered your first choice, not 8-9 primary and 2-3 secondary players.

Modern full backs have to attack and defend - especially if your manager is saying he wants to play attacking football.

Sometimes players just can't move up a level and unfortunately Holmes will only ever be an average league full back as he's not a great defender or attacker just a steady full back who gets caught out at times.

We as tranmere fans were brought up on top full backs - crackers, tony the tank, nolan, Ged brannan, Alan rogers, Ryan taylor, Gareth Roberts, Ryan creswell etc - all top full backs and all brought through the youth system or from non league.

As for KO I'd say two things - firstly watch how he plays - he doesn't get into positions to score goals or even make space for his team mates by holding the ball up and working the line. Secondly look at his past record - he has never scored more than 10 goals in a season, stayed at a club for more than a few years and the fans of the teams he plays for never race about him. That is is because he is not a goal scorer and he soon gets found out after a season. Therefore unless there is some kind of miracle he isn't the answer and for RE to say he causes problems on Tuesday is laughable.

Stockton in contrast looks to get on the ball and has a record right through his youth career of scoring goals. He was on for 10 mins on Wednesday and had 2 shots at goal and linked play between the midfield and the wingers. If RE's remit is to develop youth and play attacking football than he needs to prove his worth by playing a formation that suits Cole and work with him to develop him into a 20 goal a season player.

Lumping balls up to a player like KO is the same as what RM served up and how painful to watch was that. Remember Sidibie!!

I know it sounds simple but we need to be scouring the local non league scene and bringing young hungry players from there that RE can coach, make them into better players and then sell at a profit.

I know it's early days and all that and I am right behind RE but do hope that is the direction we take and not revert back to the @#$%&£ of last season.

I thought Cole played well on Saturday. But I thought the ball stuck better against a much better opposition on Tuesday.
Ko had something different than Cole. The link up play was better on Tuesday. Cole was isolated. RE has given most of the squad a chance from both games. We need the attacking kids to be closer and the wide players nearer to the target man. What was lacking in both games was the final ball

Surprised people are still on KO's back after Tuesday. His hold up play and bringing other players into the game was brilliant. And in sure that's what RE would of wanted.

Agree Holmes isn't all that going forward but he's certainly improving on it. Also there aren't many "modern" fullbacks who can go into a tackle like he can. So he also has a plus side.

Also to the people saying the wingers aren't defending... Richards over the two games has been one of the most effective wide players I've seen in a long time for Rovers when it comes to coming back and defending. Seems like he never misses a tackle.

Onwards and upwards. Things look positive to me.

Woodards signing of the season so far for me. Outstanding

Thought Hill was excellent to be fair. We were just dominated in midfield.
