By Deadly Submarine September 4 2010 Following his side's first home win of the season at Prenton Park this afternoon against high-flying Peterborough United, Les Parry praised his players and was delighted with the result despite Posh's dominance of possession in the game.....
Rovers Manager Les Parry was delighted with his side's 1-0 home win over a high-flying Peterborough United side at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon which secured Tranmere's first win of the season and moved them up the League One table for the time being.
Parry told the Tranmere Rovers Official Website.....
"Peterborough are a good side and there aren't many sides they won't
score against this season, so the fact they had to change it after 25
minutes showed how much we dominated the opening period and they had to
match us up. It was a great performance by a very young side."
"It's massive (to get the first home win). You get fed
up of reading and hearing that we haven't won at home, so people can't
write that now."
"Adam McGurk gave our fans a litte glimpse of what is
to come from him, though unfortunately he had to come off after turning
his ankle."
"Once Ryan Fraughan gets into the box they have to be careful with him and he got to the byline and put in a great cross for the goal."
"Ian Goodison was struggling after he took an elbow to
the ribs. Kevin said to me that we'd have to take him off but I said
we'd do no such thing, he's staying on, end of subject."
Well done Les,this was by far the best performance of the season so far.The energy in midfield was the key. There is no substitute for pace and to play 3 attacking midfielders with blanchard in the hole was genious.Keep the youngsters in with the experieced older players ready to come on to steady the ship if need be.
