PP Main Stand/Paddock

Main Stand (Upper Tier) and Paddocks (Lower Tier)

The Main Stand is a two-tiered structure which these days is showing its age but it does provide arguably the best view from the side of the pitch despite a couple of roof supports being in view depending on where you sit.

The bottom tier of the Main Stand is known as the Paddock and is seen as the family area of the Stadium as well as being the place for disabled supporters from both teams to watch the game.

PP JK Stand

The Johnny King Stand

On the opposite side of the pitch to the Main Stand is the Johnny King Stand which is a fairly small Stand but is closer to the pitch than the Main Stand is.

PP Kop Stand

The Kop Stand

Behind one of the goals is the Kop Stand which is by far the largest structure at Prenton Park and from the top of the Upper tier a great view is afforded.

Away Fans Facilities

 PP Cowshed

Away Stand: Cowshed Stand

Capacity: 2,500

Location of Stand: Behind the Goal

Stand Facilities: All-Seated and Fully Covered by a Roof

Parking Information

There is a Large Car Park at the Stadium which costs £4.00 per car and on certain match days there is also a Car Park on the football fields behind the Kop Stand which costs £3.00 per car.

In addition to these Car Parks there is usually plenty of Street Parking in the housing areas around the Stadium.

Arriving by Car

From Liverpool City Centre:

Use the Queensway Tunnel out of the City Centre (this will be signposted Birkenhead) and once you have paid the toll (£1.30 for Cars) at the Birkenhead end of the tunnel, bear immediately right onto the flyover from where the Stadium is signposted.  Continue along Borough Road for around two miles until the Stadium appears on the right.

For the Club Car Park, turn right at the traffic lights (by the Prenton Park Pub) and then first left (by the Mersey Clipper Pub) and this takes you into the Club Car Park.

For the Unofficial Car Park on the playing fields, continue straight ahead at the traffic lights by the Prenton Park Pub and after the Stadium and the car garage on the right, there is an entrance to the playing fields for Parking.

From the East and South:

Exit the M53 at Junction 4 and take the fourth exit at the roundabout onto the B5151 Mount Road (this is signposted Tranmere Rovers F.C off the roundabout).  Continue on this road for around two and a half miles, continuing straight ahead at the double roundabout and the first set of traffic lights.  At the second set of traffic lights turn right onto Prenton Road West where the ground is on the right hand side after around 200 yards.

For the Car Park, turn right (by the Mersey Clipper Pub) and this takes you into the Club Car Park.

For the Unofficial Car Park on the playing fields, continue straight ahead as you pass the Mersey Clipper Pub and when you reach the traffic lights behind the Stand (with the Prenton Park Pub on the left) turn right  and after the Stadium and the car garage on the right, there is an entrance to the playing fields for Parking.

Arrival by Public Transport

By Rail

Prenton Park is some distance away from its nearest railway station but it can be accessed from three different stations on Merseyrail's Wirral Line which has trains every 15 minutes on Weekdays and Saturdays. The following methods are recommended from each Station.

Rock Ferry Station (Access to Stadium on Foot):

The nearest Station to the Stadium is Rock Ferry which is around ten to fifteen minutes walk away.  Exit the Station and turn right and begin walking up the hill until you come to a crossroads.  Cross straight over and continue in the same direction as before (slightly less uphill at this point) until you come to a roundabout.

Again cross straight over at the roundabout, then cross the next crossroads until you reach the traffic lights by the Co-op Late Shop.  Take a right at these lights and the ground will be visible at the bottom of the road on the left hand side.

Birkenhead Central and Hamilton Square (Access to Stadium via Soccerbus Service):

As an alternative to walking from Rock Ferry station, fans can alight instead at either Hamilton Square or Birkenhead Central where a Soccerbus service operates on most match-days.

Just alight from your train and proceed to outside the station where a frequent Bus service operates to the Stadium from two hours before kick-off until 15 minutes before kick-off.  The return buses run for around 50 minutes after the final whistle.

Soccerbus is free to all holders of valid Trio, Saveaway or Solo tickets and also Merseytravel free travel passes.  For fans not holding these tickets, 50p extra needs to be added to your journey cost when you buy a train ticket.

*Note - On certain match-days, Soccerbus may not run so for confirmation please contact Merseytravel direct on 0870 608 2 608.
