Tranmere and Leyton Orient will have to do it all again in ten days time, meaning the two teams will end up facing each other three times in two weeks. The visitors took the lead early on but Chris Shuker earned the hosts a replay.
Les Parry wielded the axe after the 4-1 defeat against Swindon, with David Martin, Paul McLaren, Marlon Broomes and Captain Ian Thomas-Moore all losing their places, and replaced respectively by Luke Daniels, Alan Mahon, Ash Taylor and Chris Shuker. So the starting XI looked like this:
Daniels
Logan, Taylor, Goodison, Bakayogo
Edds, Welsh, Mahon
Curran, Ricketts, Shuker
Sean Thornton and Ben Chorley were returning to Prenton Park and received distinctly different receptions, with Ben Chorley applauded whilst Sean Thornton was predictably booed throughout.
Rovers started brightly with Shuker looking lively, and Mahon had and early shot go wide, but it took just seven minutes for Rovers to go behind when Sean Thornton's corner was headed in by an unmarked Luke Ashworth to give the O's an undeserved lead.
Rovers could have been level after 17 minutes when Chris Shuker swivelled and created an opportunity for himself, he then tried to curl in but Glen Morris produced an impressive save parrying away.
Ricketts then was brought down in the area, when challenging for a free kick and John Welsh shot at the keeper from long range.

Shuker then carved open the Orient defence and had it right footed effort saved again by Morris as Rovers ended the half in dominate style.
Half Time: Tranmere Rovers 0 - 1 Leyton Orient
It took just seven minutes after the interval for Rovers to get back on level terms as Alan Mahon raced into the box and Chris Shuker took over and hit a right footed effort off Purches and Thornton and into the net to level.
Morris then tipped Curran's overhead kick over the crossbar and from the resulting corner, he denied Ricketts as he headed goalwards.
Mahon had a free kick deflect wide and Curran tried another overhead kick, this time going over without a save being required as Rovers looked to take the lead by dominating the game.
Thornton then had a free kick narrowly deflect wide and Pires blazed over after he had annoyed plenty over Rovers fans with his keenness to hit the deck as the game ended in stalemate assuring a replay next week on Tuesday 17th November with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Full Time: Tranmere Rovers 1 - 1 Leyton Orient
Chris Shuker
Always looked the most likely to score throughout and got Rovers the replay with his goal. He seemed the most energetic and could have had a hat trick on a luckier day.
