Rovers Reserves side made it two wins in a row in League and Cup tonight thanks to a hard fought and much deserved 2-1 win away against Wrexham Reserves at Buckley Town's Globe Way Stadium in front of a fair sized crowd.
Goals from long range in the first half from both Ryan Fraughan and Aaron Cresswell sealed the win for Shaun Garnett's men under the watchful eye of Tranmere's caretaker Manager and Physio Les Parry.
The strong Rovers side put out by Shaun Garnett contained no fewer than eight players who have first team experience so far this season with the starting line-up as follows...
Collister
Pursehouse Ashcroft Taylor (c) Cresswell
Carole Baker Mahon Fraughan
Shuker
Bain
Subs: Coughlin, Rule, Jennings, Benson, Power
Just five minutes into the game, Alan Mahon fired wide from distance for Rovers as the visitors took the early initiative and just three minutes later Chris Shuker fired high over the bar again from distance after some great build up play from the men in green.
Former Oldham player Matty Wolfenden hit the post for the hosts after ten minutes before the ball was cleared to safety by the Rovers defence but as Rovers continued to have the better of the possession, it was they who created two more chances either side of the quarter hour mark when firstly Alan Mahon fired a 35 yard free-kick wide of the target and then the unimpressive Kithson Bain also fired wide on 16 minutes.
Wrexham created two chances in a minute when a weak header from a decent cross went straight into the arms of Joe Collister in the Rovers goal and then an overhead from Lamine Sakho who looked a threat all night for Wrexham was mistimed and came to nothing for the hosts.

Aaron Cresswell Slips Taking a Rovers Free-Kick
Chris Shuker fired over once again in the 24th minute and two minutes later a foul on the edge of the Wrexham penalty area brought Rovers the chance to have a shot from a free kick which Cresswell slipped whilst taking and it went harmlessly wide of the goal.
Three minutes after that incident though, the visitors did take a deserved lead when Ryan Fraughan was given the time and space to launch a shot from distance and it sailed into the goal leaving Erwin Sak in the Wrexham goal helpless.
Joe Collister was forced into a save in the 35th minute as the home side looked to find a way back into the game but just two minutes later it was 2-0 to Rovers when a long range drive from Aaron Cresswell hit the right hand post, rolled across the goal and went into the net of the left hand post to give a scoreline which remained through to the half-time whistle.
HALF-TIME: WREXHAM RESERVES 0 - 2 TRANMERE RESERVES
Matty Wolfenden had the first chance of the second half as Wrexham came out in search of an equaliser as he fired over just five minutes into the half.
Just three minutes later and after a spell of pressure, the home side pulled a goal back when a long cross from the Rovers left found Lamine Sakho at the back post and he headed home for a goal he deserved.
Wrexham saw another chance go over Joe Collister's crossbar in the 62nd minute as Brian Carey's side looked likely to score an equaliser but after Rovers replaced Chris Shuker with Ross Rule in the 65th minute and replaced Alan Mahon with Dale Jennings seven minutes later, Rovers began to once again dominant the game with some neat passing that deserved a third goal.

As it was though it was Joe Collister who was called upon to make another save with 15 minutes remaining, sticking out a foot to divert a shot wide and out for a corner. Kithson Bain had been really ineffective upfront but Jennings had injected some pace and skill into the attacking and Rovers could have also added to their tally late on.
As it was the injury time period saw Tom Baker dismissed for a second yellow card after ignoring (or not hearing) the referee's whistle and firing a shot into the goal after the official had already indicated a free kick against Rovers.
The ten men of Tranmere held out though for a deserved win against a couple of Wrexham's stronger players and a youthful rest of their side.
Rover's next Reserve fixture is at home to Accrington Stanley on Wednesday 11th November with a 7.00pm kick-off at Cammell Laird's Kirklands Stadium, whilst Tranmere's youth team begin their FA Youth Cup campaign for 2009/10 with a home game next Tuesday night at Prenton Park (kick-off 7.30pm).
