By Deadly Submarine
June 17 2009
The countdown to the 2009/10 season has already begun with the release his morning of the fixtures for the new campaign in Coca-Cola League One which sees Rovers open their campaign on Saturday 8th August with a away game against Yeovil Town.

The countdown to the 2009/10 season has been underway for some time but the release this morning of the fixtures for the upcoming season makes the new campaign seem closer than ever as fans are now able to plan which times they will and won’t be able to attend.

Rovers will open their League Campaign under new Manager John Barnes with trip game to Huish Park where they will take on Yeovil Town whilst their first home fixture is against newly promoted Gillingham a week later.

Over the busy Christmas period, Rovers will face Oldham at Boundary Park on Boxing Day and Rovers host Leeds at Prenton Park on January 2nd.  In the traditional game between Boxing Day and New Year, Rovers host Carlisle United.

Rovers end the season with an away game against Stockport County whilst other key games include Leeds United away on August 22nd, Charlton Athletic at home on 29th August and away on January 30th and Norwich City at home on 3rd April and away on November 14th.

Once again, Tranmere face some ridiculous Tuesday night away trips too, as following on from away games at Cheltenham and Hartlepool last season, Rovers travel to Wycombe for a night match this season.

Dave the fixture list isn't organised around whether or not you can go to a game on that particular date.

Yeah , Yeovil is fairly local for me , although Swindon is the closest . Can't wait . Come on the Superwhites. Every ball's a white ball

They give us one of the biggest games when Leeds/Reading Festival is on. How silly. And shush Matt, I can kick off if I want to.

So cancel the football calendar because of two music festivals attended by a small minority of Englands football fanbase??

As Mikey says someone has to play them then!

I imagine that Oldham at home will be moved from Saturday 6th February to Friday 5th because of the Merseyside Derby.

Also if we are drawn at home in the FA Cup First Round it clashes with the first Merseyside Derby as well.

We would still possibly play on the Friday anyway even if they did because of Police shifts and working hours.
