Sunday 7th June

Total Tranmere learns that after years of similar speculation, some of which has been true all along despite Rovers fans ridiculing the stories in the past, former Liverpool players Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler may well be behind a take-over bid for the Club.

Once again this is not a concrete rumour although it has come direct from a former Rovers player but perhaps this time it all makes more sense than it has in the past due to the link this time with Barnes and McAteer.

Monday 8th June

After Jamaica win their friendly on Sunday night, a post-match Press Conference sees the Jamaican football authorities terminate Barnes's contract in order for him to take up the Managers job at Tranmere.

Barnes himself speaks to the media about his disappointment at not staying on as Jamaica Coach for the forthcoming Gold Cup before moving to Rovers, sparking annoyance amongst Rovers fans about his early commitment to the cause.

Rumours circulate from a unknown source that Shaun Garnett, Rovers Reserve and Youth Team Coach have left the Club but this is later deemed to be untrue, much to the relief of Rovers fans.

In a Dramatic Week at Prenton Park, Achterberg left to Join Liverpool

Tuesday 9th June

Some Official News from the Club!.......

....a deal has been agreed for Peter Johnson's company Love2Shop to have their name on the back of Rovers' shirts next season - Nothing on the Manager situation then........

Unofficial rumours also circulate that John Achterberg has left the Club to join Liverpool as a Goalkeeping Coach.

Wednesday 10th June

Two pieces of news in two days from the Club, it's feast all of a sudden - but it's not good news.....

..confirmation that Achterberg has indeed left the Club to join Liverpool as a Goalkeeping Coach, teaming up once more with new Liverpool Reserve Team Manager John McMahon who used to be on Rovers Coaching Staff.  The exodus continues.

Total Tranmere is told on Wednesday evening that an announcement on the new Rovers Manager is to be made on Tuesday 16th June.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it seems almost certain that Barnes and McAteer will become the new Management team at Tranmere next Tuesday but the future of the Club itself remains as unclear as ever with rumours, but nothing more substantial, about take-overs.

The alternative of course is the possibility of Administration which would be the worst case scenario for all concerned and surely the laying off of certain members of staff is not a good sign.

Whatever happens next, most fans seem to think that there has to be a reason over and above the excuse of falling attendances as to why Ronnie Moore was sacked and Peter Johnson may well have a few more twists up his sleeve yet.  The timing of Moore's dismissal is the strangest part about the whole thing and most fans still can't get their heads around it.

Stay tuned to Total Tranmere for the latest developments over the coming weeks!
