Tranmere's home game against Peterborough on Saturday afternoon will only go ahead if the Prenton Park pitch passes a pitch inspection by the referee at 2.30pm tomorrow (Friday).
Tranmere have asked Saturday’s match referee, Phil Gibbs, to make an early inspection of the playing surface to prevent too many fans from travelling to a game that is subsequently called off.
This early inspection comes after Rovers Fans suffered a pointless ten hour round trip to Colchester last weekend when the game was called off just 90 minutes before kick-off because of a frozen pitch.
The referee will visit Prenton Park on Friday afternoon, at around 2.30pm, to check on the pitch ahead of the game.
It is also reported that temperatures on Friday night call fall to as low as minus four meaning that even if the inspection on Friday is passed the game could still be in doubt come Saturday morning.
Reports elsewhere suggest that today (Thursday) 75% of Rover's pitch is unplayable.
Further information will be available on www.tranmererovers.co.uk following the inspection.
