Tranmere today learned that the reward for seeing off Peterborough United in their FA Cup second round replay if should be acheived will be a third round away tie at struggling Premiership side West Bromwich Albion.
Should Rovers progress it will be the first time that they have met the Baggies in any competition since the 2000/2001 season when Rovers were relegated from what is now the Championship.
In the tie at Prenton Park, the game ended 2-2 whilst in the return fixture at the Hawthorns, the home side ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a Bob Taylor brace and a late consolation from Jason Koumas for Rovers.

Rovers Could Travel to the Hawthorns for the First time since 2000
For some fans then it will be the first time they have visited the Hawthorns and many will be looking forward to the trip but first of course Rovers have to see off Peterborough in the second round replay on a soon to be confirmed date.
If Tranmere do progress to the third round, the League One tie away at Colchester United which is also scheduled for January 3rd, will be postponed meaning a long midweek trip to the South East at a later date for Rovers Fans.
News of the replay date and tickets for the game will appear here when the information is available.
