Rovers earned a deserved draw away at Peterborough in the FA cup and will now bring them back to Prenton Park for a replay next week.  The draw means Rovers are in the draw for the third round and could draw the likes of Liverpool & Everton.

There were two changes to the side that beat Scunthrope 2-0 on Tuesday, Steve Jennings came returned from suspention and replaced Mark Wilson who was unavailable. Gareth Edds started ahead of Terry Gornell as part of the five man midfield in a 4-5-1 formation.

The was a huge difference in temperature between today's game and our league visit to London Road in September as the players lined up in gold in the freezing cold.

Rovers started lively and had their first chance as Bas Savage found Ian Moore and his shot was well saved at the keepers near post. Boyd then shot over for Peterborough and Kay did the same for Rovers.

Rovers were controlling the game as Jennings and Edds both had chances kept our by the Peterborough defence then Kay shot wide on 22 minutes.  At the other end Danny Coyne saved from McLean but Rovers defence was looking solid.

The Peterborough fans started to get on their team's back and the players reacted with chances for Mackail-Smith and Lee but Coyne saved both of their efforts

Half Time: Peterborough 0-0 Tranmere

Peterborough brought on Shaun Batt at half time and his presence livened up his teams play.  He shot wide and Paul Coutts shot over as Peterborough made an improved start to the second half.

Ronnie Moore made a positive change replacing Gareth Edds with Terry Gornell and switching to 4-4-2.

Probably the best Rovers chance fell to Gornell in the 85th minute.  Jennings did well to find him and he should perhaps have taken it first time but he waited to get it on his stronger foot and his shot was saved by Lewis.  At the other end Rovers defended bravely to concede a corner and then Boyd then shot wide.

The game ended in end to end fashion and despite the game ending 0-0 it was a good game and probably a draw and a replay is the fair outcome, Rovers will take good heart from this performance against Leeds next week.

Full Time: Peterborough 0-0 Tranmere

Should have won it. Even game but we had the two best chances any team could ever hope for. Edds and Gornell need to hang their heads in shame, again, for Edds.

I just hope that's not our best chance of going through gone.
