Tranmere Rovers have today completed the loan signing of central midfielder Mark Wilson from struggling Championship side Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster, who won promotion to the Championship from League One last season via the play-offs, have allowed Wilson to join Tranmere on a one month deal, despite the midfielder playing a pivitol role in that promotion winning side, as well as playing eight games for the Keepmoat Stadium side so far this season.

Wilson joins at a time when Tranmere are in desperate need of some players, with midfielders Steve Jennings, Antony Kay, George O'Callaghan and Adnan Ahmed all unavailable for the weekend game at Yeovil, whilst defenders Ryan Shotton and Ian Goodison are also missing for Tranmere.

Mark Wilson has Joined on Loan from Doncaster Rovers

An attacking minded midfielder, Wilson, who will wear the number 27 shirt for Tranmere, started his career at Manchester United, where he made a handful of appearances before joining Middlesbrough in 2001.

At Middlesbrough, Wlison failed to hold down a regular first team place and spent time on loan at a number of clubs, including Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday, before joining FC Dallas in America in 2005.

He returned to England fourteen months after crossing the Atlantic Ocean, playing non-league football before joining Doncaster on a free-transfer where the 29-year old has made over 50 appearances.

Manager Ronnie Moore told Tranmere World....

"Mark is a quality midfielder. He's a good passer of the ball who can play either the holding or attacking roles.

"He played more than 30 games last season in a side that got promoted and he has been involved this season too and I'm really pleased to have him here.

"I'd like to thank Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll for allowing him to join us for a month."

Good signing if you ask me.

Experienced and has an attacking mind in the middle which we lack with Kay and Jenno!

Don't know much about him but I'm told he's decent enough so sounds good.

If he proves to be good we could maybe then look to replacing Jenno with him if Jenno does move.

Ronnie has said we will be getting another right-back in on loan once Shotton's deal ends at the end of this month!

Wilson will have to start on Saturday really.

Ahmed could have been recalled from Mansfield so i guess it's a given that he's going, which begs the question, why sign him in the first place if after just over a year,he is not getting a game,we also need these games to blood the younger players,so give Holmes & Henry the chance
