Ronnie Moore was critical of the referee after Rovers drew 2-2 at home to Southend United on Saturday afternoon as both sides ended the game with ten men. Ian Moore and Bas Savage twice put Rovers into the lead but on both occasions Southend equalised.

Ronnie Moore criticised the refereeing decisions following his side's 2-2 home draw with Southend United on Saturday afternoon after both sides ended the game with ten men as Steven Jennings saw red for Rovers for two yellow cards.

Moore told Tranmere World...........

"How we could be 2-2 at half time is beyond me.  It was stupid defending. The first one got a deflection that Danny couldn't do much about but the second one Ian wanted two touches when he only needed one."

"We had umpteen chances after that. I can't fault the attacking football we played, and there were lots of positives out of the game. But having led twice we should be good enough to go on and win the game."

"There were one or two controversial decisions made.  That's three of our lads missing for Yeovil, and if Goodison isn't back in time (from international duty) it's four.

Ronnie Moore

"I think their 28 should have been sent off...it was a foul on Kay and the referee played on.  Then Jenno had a little gamble and he played on again. Then the linesman got involved like he did all afternoon. There was a blatant penalty just before half time for a foul on Savage and I've seen them given for the run with Ian at the end."

"Some of the decisions were beyond me.  Jenno will miss two games but Kay and Shotton will be back for Scunthorpe. With the three of them missing it will take some working out.  We're alright down the left, but the problem area is down the right and centre back if Goodison isn't back."

"The crowd were brilliant.  They got behind us and they'll be as disappointed as we are that we haven't won. We made a really good side look ordinary."

Moore Critical of Referee After Home Draw

He's quite right. A shocking performance, if Stuart Atwell got dropped for two months for a decision made by his linesman this referee should never take to a football pitch again.

There were numerous occasions where he was too picky, and others were he played to many advantages. He quickly lost control of the game and should of booked Sawyer 15 minutes earlier, then all the trouble would of been avoided between him and Kay and perhaps he would of earned a little more respect from the rest of the players, however he never and he lost control of the game.

As Moore say's, it was a penalty before half time, and at the end when Ian Moore was through, I don't think it was a penalty but it certainly wasn't a free kick for them, it was a 50-50 ball and play should of been allowed to continue.

Jennings red card was certainly a bad tackle, theres no doubt about that but the fact the referee missed possibly the most blaitent foul of the day 15 seconds earlier, means this could of been avoided if the @#$%& had opened his eyes.

Shotton got booked for pretty much nothing, and if the referee had control of the game perhaps there player might of thought twice before reacting in the way he did in the incident that lead to his sending off.

A truly shocking performance which ruined an otherwise excellent game of football.

The penalty shout on Ian Moore is bollocks, Moore jumped on their mans back before being pulled back, the referee got it spot on, as he didd the two sendings off. Kay was lucky not to be sent off and their 28 could have been too, but at the end of the day I thought he had a good game.

Moores penalty shout was a 50/50 ball, they were both at each other, it was neither a penalty or a free-kick, play should of been allowed to continue.

Jenno's was a bad tackle but what about the blaitent foul on Kay 15 seconds earlier, which was also a booking for their player, he was @#$%& stupid.

i agree with matty the ref had a good game, ok he lost control but that was the players fault not his!

Both red cards where the correct deciosn, kay should have gone, i think there 28 was lucky to stay on but to say he deserved to go isnt fair.

shottons booking was a blaitent one mikey so i dont really know where your coming from there!

The game was just a high tempo passionate affair which got a little out of hand at times, it was shwon in the very first minute when cresswell fairly crunched sum1, that sorta set the tone for the match!

The fact remains that the referee can't do anything until the players have made the tackles, even if it looks like something could happen. He made the correct decisions, but the players still kept putting very hard tackles in.

We'll just have to disagree then, I don't think I've ever heard you criticise a referee since you became one anyway, and you probably never will.

Don't need to critise them for starters, it does absolutely nothing for them, and especially not if they haven't had a bad game. Your statement is incorrect anyway.

Yeh he doesnt like Kevin Friends. But I agree to a certain extent Mikey. Matt gives refs more leeway (spelling?)
